These look great, but I can’t help but wonder where I’d put my books…

Very pretty, I suppose… but I keep wondering why you’re calling them “bookshelves”. The number of books is, in most cases, minimal; and hanging art from the molding simply blocks access to the books or the spaces where books might be. These are knick-knack shelves with a few books scattered upon them. The only reason that my bookshelves might have objets d’art upon them would be as a bookend, until I can fill in the space with more (you’ve guessed it) books.

  4. Yes, from one book lover to another, the amount of books you place on the bookshelf is entirely up to you and a very personal thing. I agree that books should always take center stage. It certainly wasn’t my intent to replace books or hide them but simply to give some unique ideas on other ways to stylishly fill the shelves if so desired in addition to displaying books. Best, Beth

So many good ideas. Thank you for sharing. My overstuffed bookshelves needed a make-over and I want to make them more guest-friendly. Thanks for the shopping tips and the blueprint.
