Hi everyone! Sorry it has been slllooowww on the blog front lately. Our black labrador Oliver tore his CCL (ACL in humans) and he had to have some major surgery. I have been super busy managing his post-surgical care, etc. He is now feeling much better as he is through the first week. The poor guy has been sporting the ‘cone of shame’ for over a week now and living in our tiny foyer 24/7. It has not been a party for Oliver!  The first 2-3 days were surely the worst. I couldn’t believe just how bruised and swollen he was! Glad that the end is in sight with his stitches coming out on Tuesday of next week and the cone FINALLY coming off.

Here are some interesting reads for you to enjoy over the weekend.

Hi everybody! I hope you all have had a great week. I have been in Ohio visiting family and will be on my way back to Chi-town by the time you read this Friday morning. I have a little break in the day right now so I am going to link out to some things. However, this may not be as long as usual due to time constraints. Thanks for understanding.

Say No to Yourself First: It’s the pot calling the kettle black at least in my home it is that’s why I loved this article about how to cut children’s screen time. The major point being say no to yourself first. Word.

Let It Be Known: Where the Most Handsome Men in America Live

#Friendshipgoals: This unlikely power couple had me smiling from ear to ear. Currently gracing the cover of Time magazine, they prove that despite our differences, we can still be friends. Check out their interview here. The video highlighting 14 hilarious moments from the Presidential Leadership Scholars ceremony is also pretty adorable.

Her Most Coveted Accessory and Secret Vices: Love, love, love this cool series from T Magazine where notables from the world of fashion, art, design and entertainment illustrate their responses to a questionnaire. Fabulously French Isabel Marant is the latest to illustrate her answers to such things as her vices, what she would want for her last meal, etc. Below is her illustration on how she sees herself.

Anchor It: Most of you are probably aware that IKEA offered free wall anchoring repair kits for 27 million dressers this week after 2 children died from injuries after their IKEA dressers fell and pinned them. FACT: every 2 weeks a child dies due to improperly secured items in the home. FACT: A falling television sends a child to the ER every 30 minutes. This article urges all of us to be proactive and get things secured in our home.

Hi everyone! What a week thus far! My son turned 9 years old on Tuesday. It is hard to believe. I tried to pull off a hilarious party revolved around ‘Bubble Soccer’ which sounded like a blast. However, the staff realized when they arrived that although they had the bubble suits in the van they forgot the pump to blow them up, oops, and that we would need to reschedule since ‘it’ was an hour away. (Insert heart attack here!) The hubs saved the day by peeling out and going to a nearby Sears to buy a Shop-Vac. Party saved! In the end it was tons of fun but if you know me you know I don’t handle situations like that well. I crumble. Moving on…

I didn’t watch the ESPY’s on Wednesday night but made a point to hop on Facebook later on before hitting the hay. I was curious to see what Caitlyn Jenner wore to accept the Arthur Ashe Courage Award (Atelier Versace!) and of course, hear her speech. Man, was I blown away! If you haven’t seen the video of her speech, you must. Click here. It is just a tad bit over 10 minutes long. The overall them is acceptance. It was wonderful. I like the headline from Marie Claire: Caitlyn Jenner Stuns on the ESPYs Stage: She is Poised, She is Emotional, She is Powerful. Yeah, pretty much sums it up. She nailed it.

Just Keep On Walking: Why you should never pet service dogs without permission. I never really thought about this aspect of it so I figured someone else reading this maybe didn’t either.

No Is A Complete Sentence: I enjoyed this list of 20 Brutally Honest Things Women Turning 40 Want All Women in Their 30’s to Know.

You Are Perfect! Although I am raising a son, I found this article about 9 Things I Will Never Tell my Daughter (again) to be pretty darn good.

Please Tell Me! Yes, If My Kid Is Being An Asshole, I Want You To Tell Me. Period. End of Story.

Why Publicists Are Terrified Of Twitter: Get the answer to this and the inside scoop about celebrity splits and how they are managed behind the scenes from the very publicist who handled Bennifer’s break-up and Nick Lachey’s divorce from Jessica Simpson. Juicy.
