I have been looking at several new fashion mags over the past few days and have been noticing a trend for fall in regards to boots. I’ve noticed that over-the-knee boots have gotten even taller and in many instances have gotten even more fitted. Hence, the term liquid legs. I mean who better to show off Stuart Weitzman’s new crazy high boots (aptly named ALLLEGS) than Gisele? These boots are 28 inches in length. Whoa!
Here’s a pair from the Fall runway at Versace.
The second-skin vinyl thigh-high boots at Dior were a major hit with the fashion crowd. Love the lucite heels.
More skin tight boots at Alexander McQueen.
Here is a close-up.
Neutral beauties at Altuzarra.
One of my favorite fashionistas evah! Miroslava Duma is killing the over-the-knee boot trend.
I really like them paired with a skirt with a slit.
I thought it was worth noting that the over-the-knee boot trend which gained lots of momentum the past few years certainly isn’t going anywhere. You will see really cool details this season with mod contrast heels from Jimmy Choo and Nicholas Kirkwood, lace-up detailing from Stuart Weitzman and Christian Louboutin and patchwork from Burberry. Just take a quick peek at the vast over-the-knee boot selection at Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus to get an idea. (There is a much more affordable version from Sam Edelman than some of the designers I previously mentioned)
What do you think of the newer and even higher over-the-knee boots? I think there are some interesting details going on for sure. I personally love the look of a high boot with a sleek long coat as seen in a few of these pictures and I think the look overall is growing on me. However, I am not a fan of the skin tight look at all. I know it is likely more of a ‘runway’ look thing but to me it is awful. If I decide to purchase an over-the-knee pair for myself, I will likely purchase this chic pair from Cole Haan as they are just so simple and beautiful. Obviously, a flat version like the Stuart Weitzman iconic 5050 boot is a great practical choice and not as extreme as some of the others.
Is the over-the-knee boot trend something you are going to embrace this season or does it remind you too much of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman? Do tell.
